VdR–Industry 2024: Selected Projects
Visions du Réel is delighted to unveil the projects selected for the VdR–Industry, the Festival’s programme dedicated to industry professionals, as well as the prestigious juries delivering CHF 80,000 in industry awards. Over four jam-packed days, Visions du Réel provides a unique opportunity for cinematic creation, connecting filmmakers with financing and distribution opportunities within an inspiring and productive environment. Under the new direction of Alice Burgin, VdR–Industry will take place from 14 to 17 April, nestled in the heart of the Festival. The full Festival programme will be announced in detail on 19 March 2024.

Our international co-production and financing forum, VdR–Pitching, brings 15 director-producer teams, upcoming talents as well as experienced festival regulars, to the attention of decision-makers. Their powerful new projects combine artistic ambition with international potential.
VdR–Work in Progress intervenes at the stage of post-production and supports filmmakers in finding suitable post-production collaborators and strategizing distribution. This year, six director-producer teams from all continents will pitch compelling new projects to film funds, TV commissioners, streamers and festival programmers.
Our VdR–Rough Cut Lab workshop accompanies four filmmakers and their editors in an advanced stage of post-production. In several online sessions, not only do the teams’ rough cuts receive personalized feedback from tutors and professional editors but the filmmakers also create new synergies while discussing each other’s films.
The hybrid nine-month programme that is the VdR–Development Lab aims to support five filmmakers and their creative producers during the development phase of their feature films and preparing them for the international market.
The 2024 Industry Jury welcomes three new faces to the Festival including Rémi Burah, CEO and Selection Committee Member of ARTE France Cinema, Lisa Kleiner Chanoff, Co-Founder of Catapult Film Fund and Kristy Matheson, Head of Festivals at the British Film Institute.
The Eurimages Jury, awarding the coveted €20,000 Eurimages Co-production Development Award, includes Eleni Chandrinou, producer and the Greek national representative of the Council of Europe alongside Susana Santos Rodrigues (Co-director at IndieLisboa International Film Festival) and Producer at Mira Film Vadim Jendreyko.
The visions sud est jury awarding the CHF 10,000 award to one project from the global south, is constituted by Zsuzsi Bánkuti (Head of Open Doors at Locarno International Film Festival), Meret Ruggle who’s the Co-director of Trigon-film and John Canciani, Artistic Director of the Internationale Winterthur Short Film Festival.
The 2024 Industry Jury (see above) will have the honor of bestowing awards upon projects participating in VdR–Pitching and VdR–Work in Progress. A total of CHF 80,000 in cash and in-kind support will be granted, courtesy of our esteemed partners: Eurimages, visions sud est, RTS, XE, The Party Film Sales, Lightdox, Unifrance in partnership with TitraFilm, TËNK, Raggioverde, Downtown Studio, Cannes Docs, DOK Leipzig, DAE.
