Atlanta #Barbz came ready on March 21st as Nicki Minaj and Monica brought their electrifying “Gag City World Tour” to the city for a second show after needing to respectfully reschedule the NOLA date due to doctor’s orders. Make no mistake, The State Farm Arena was packed to the rafters with screaming fans, ready to witness a night of pure hip-hop and R&B royalty, but little did they know Atlanta’s own hometown heroes were ready to surprise audience attendees with classic crunk hits we all know and appreciate.

R&B icon Monica, who is a well known Queen of Atlanta, kicked off the night in style, showcasing her timeless vocals and reminding everyone why Nicki chose HER. The crowd sang along to classic hits like “The Boy is Mine” and “Before You Walk Out Of My Life”, setting the stage perfectly for the queen herself, Nicki Minaj.

But the night wasn’t just about Nicki and Monica. Atlanta’s hip-hop heavyweights came out in full force to pay homage. 2 Chainz joined Nicki on stage for a high-octane performance of “Beez in the Trap,” sending the hype level through the roof.

The surprises kept coming when Lil Scrappy emerged, assisted by Khaotic, to perform the ATL classic “No Problem.” Scrappy’s appearance reminded the crowd of his pivotal role in the city’s hip-hop scene. The energy peaked when Waka Flocka Flame stormed the stage, unleashing the raw power of “Hard In Da Paint” – a true ode to Atlanta’s signature sound. And am I the only Barb that wishes Nicki Minaj and Roscoe Dash created a classic during Roscoe’s “Show Out” era.

The “Gag City World Tour” Atlanta stop was a testament to both Nicki Minaj’s enduring star power and Monica’s soulful artistry. The special guests brought an extra layer of Atlanta pride, making it a night the city won’t soon forget. As the tour continues, Nicki, Monica, and their guests will undoubtedly leave audiences across the globe breathless.
