Rihanna is standing ten toes down behind Kendrick Lamar as he preps for his major Super Bowl Halftime Show performance next year. As TSR previously covered, the Compton rapper will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 9.
Rihanna made it clear that she’s here for K.Dot taking the stage during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. While chattin’ with ET, Rih said she thinks Kendrick is the right person to headline Super Bowl LIX.
“Kendrick Lamar is the one that’s supposed to do it right now. He’s gonna crush it! We should never doubt him. He’s an amazing artist. Top-tier! He had an [incredible] year,” Rih said.
Rih doubled down on her support for K.Dot, highlighting how he definitely deserves his moment on stage for bringing people together and staying down for the culture. “He deserves it. I cannot wait to see it. Kendrick, thank you!” the Fenty Beauty mogul continued. Rihanna’s support for Kendrick comes after stars like Master P, Nicki Minaj, and Birdman commented on his hitting the stage.
The Roommates flooded The Shade Room comment section with reactions to Rih’s statements.
Instagram user @pocahotnessv wrote, “I agree, Kendrick earned his flowers.”
Instagram user @blakcchild__ wrote, “That “ Kendrick, thank you” was personal ”
While Instagram user @official_tylan wrote, “Dropping this on Drakes birthday is nasty work… diabolical ”
Then Instagram user @cordandthekitchen wrote, “The fact ppl think Kendrick only has Not Like Us to perform just shows ppl don’t really be listening to music fr.”
Another Instagram user @laylaloulou_ wrote, “Yess people won’t like this but she’s right.”
Lastly, Instagram user @lai.michelle1 wrote, “And his music has been good wayyyy before Not like us.”
Back in September, King Kendrick shocked fans when he announced that he would be headlining Super Bowl LIX. On September 8, the ‘Not Like Us’ hitmaker dropped the news in an Instagram video, flexing with a football throwing machine in front of an American flag.
This marks Kendrick’s first time headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, but it’s actually his second time performing at the championship game. In 2022, he shared the stage with 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem in Los Angeles.
