According to USA Today, Patti informed the outlet that Tyson slapped Paul because Paul “stepped on his foot” during their weigh-in. Per the outlet, the footage appears to confirm Patti’s account, reportedly showing Paul stepping on Tyson’s right foot moments before his reaction.
“Jake stepped on Mike’s foot, that prompted the reaction,” Patti reportedly told the outlet via text message. “I was there, and Mike just told me.”
Furthermore, Patti reportedly told the outlet that he believes Tyson put Paul “in his place.”
“My personal opinion [is] Jake shows enough disrespect that he starts crawling up to Mike and then pouncing in front of him… like some sort of lurching animal. Mike put him in his place,” Patti reportedly asserted.
Lastly, Mike Tyson’s close friend asserted that his slapping Paul shows he’s “finished with all the publicity” and now “it’s time to fight.”

According to CNN, Tyson and Paul will face off in the ring on Friday, November 15. Paul has reportedly vowed to knock Tyson out “in the fifth or sixth round.” Furthermore, the outlet notes that Tyson is an “experienced fighter.” However, it’s reportedly “been decades since his reign in the ring.” Per USA Today, the pair’s match will stream exclusively on Netflix at 8 p.m.
