Sandra Spence ~ The Game Show Blonde

She was born Sandra Jane Fowler on May 22, 1915 in Olympia, Washington. Her father, Ernest Fowler, was an oral surgeon. When she was a child her family moved to California. Sandra studied ballet and dreamed of becoming a dancer. At the age of sixteen she was named Miss San Diego. The beautiful blonde turned down a lucrative offer from producer Earl Carroll because she wanted to finish high school. On July 24, 1944 she married Irwin Spence, a Navy pilot, after a three week courtship. Their daughter Sandra Marie was born in April of 1946. A few months later she met a Hollywood talent scout who offered her a contract. She was chosen to be the timekeeper model on the TV game show Pantomime Quiz. The show became very popular and in 1948 she was voted the “Queen Of Television”. Sandra made her film debut in the 1948 comedy If You Knew Susie.
