Tory Lanez‘s legal team, Unite The People, headed by Ceasar McDowell, has responded to Megan Thee Stallion‘s allegations of defamation and request for a restraining order against the incarcerated rapper.
On Wednesday, December 18, Lanez’s legal team reportedly spoke exclusively with TMZ. Furthermore, Unite The People pushed back on Megan Thee Stallion’s assertion that he paid internet bloggers to share defamatory statements about her. Instead, Lanez’s legal team explained that “the payments had nothing to do with Lanez, and the truth will be revealed in court.”
Additionally, a statement was also released online from McDowell. In the message, he also addressed the outgoing payments from his client.
“As for the Zelle transactions of $3,000, we must ask the public not to jump to conclusions. The legal process will not only address these matters, but prove 100% without a shadow of a doubt that they had nothing to do with Mr. Daystar Peterson or his case at all,” McDowell asserted in part.
Before concluding, McDowell appeared to throw a few spicy shots at Megan Thee Stallion, pointing out her previous history of “lying” to the public.

Social media users reacted to Ceasar McDowell’s statement on behalf of Unite The People in The Shade Room’s comment section.
While Instagram user @zellieimani added, “What other reasons is he paying a blogger for? Lol”
As The Shade Room previously reported, earlier this week, TMZ published an exclusive report asserting that Megan Thee Stallion requested a restraining order against Lanez. Furthermore, she reportedly asserted that she’s endured “several months of abuse” from the incarcerated rapper.
“Despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Ms. Pete, Mr. Peterson continues to subject her to repeated trauma and revictimization,” her filing reportedly asserted, per Page Six.
More specifically, Megan accused Lanez of using blogger Elizabeth Milagro Cooper and others to “spread defamatory statements about her.”
Per the outlet, Megan would like Lanez to “stop contacting, harassing, or intimidating her — whether directly or through third parties.” Additionally, per Page Six, a court hearing for the restraining order request has been scheduled for January 9, 2025.
