After dominating the Critics Choice Awards and receiving a streaming date on Peacock, Christopher Nolan‘s magnum opus, Oppenheimer, is back at the forefront of conversation. There is a distinct underlying theme throughout the film about whether the father of the atomic bomb and titular character J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) was ever an actual member of the Communist Party. It is leveraged heavily in the movie that he was, at the very least, a not-so-subtle sympathizer with the movement that was gaining steam in the Soviet Union at the same time during the 1940s.
