“Now we were more than just daredevils. Now we were telling a story…” Netflix has revealed their official trailer for a documentary film titled Skywalkers: A Love Story, which originally premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. This film is a cliche love story about two Russians who are obsessed with tower climbing, known as “rooftopping”, where they break in and climb to the top of tall towers just to take photos / videos for social media. A daredevil couple puts their love and trust to the test to go where no one has gone before: the top of the world’s second-highest skyscraper. What will they risk to touch the sky? Skywalkers: A Love Story is directed and written by Emmy-winning filmmaker Jeff Zimbalist (Favela Rising, The Two Escobars, Momentum Generation). It’s set for an IMAX run for one week in July before streaming on Netflix worldwide. I caught this film at Sundance and couldn’t stand it – one of the cheesiest, dumbest, most worthless films with nothing exciting or interesting to offer besides a surface-level adoration of two very vapid influencers.
